The rankings, compiled by Denver-based Real Trends, are based on the individuals’ sales volume from last year. This year’s list shows the real estate market is recovering in Palm Beach, after several slow seasons.
Christian Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate Inc., landed No. 21 on the list, with sales totaling $202,316,025.
“I’m very thankful and grateful to friends and clients for the opportunities we’ve earned,” Angle said. “I’m very proud we are No. 1 in South Florida for a second consecutive year. It’s truly a 24/7 business — and it comes with diligence and hard work and the benefit of working in a wonderful community.”
Angle also said the numbers show that the market as a whole is continuing to strengthen.
“South Florida — and Palm Beach in particular — is a rare and excellent environment to be in right now.”
Sales volume for the top five agents nationwide this year significantly passed last year’s totals. HomesUSA.com agent Ben Caballero of Addison, Texas, ranked No. 1 with transactions totaling about $737.2 million. The other top five agents, from California and New York, recorded between $404.7 million to $594.7 million.
Caballero also ranked No. 1 in 2013, but with about $668.4 million. The other top five agents from that year recorded between $338.9 million to $393.7 million. The top agent in 2012 recorded just $274.7 million.
Three agents from The Corcoran Group were placed on this year’s list: Jim McCann at No. 22 with $195,045,750, newcomer Suzanne Frisbie at No. 69 with $109,715,000 and Paulette Koch at No. 110 with $88,199,250.
Cristina Condon of Sotheby’s International Realty was the fifth Palm Beach agent featured on the list, coming in at No. 56 with $120,984,000 in total sales.
“I’m very fortunate to be on the list and sustain this as many years as I have,” said Condon, who’s been on the list since 2009. “Palm Beach real estate has changed in the past few months. We’ve seen many families moving into the area. We’re very lucky.”
Angle, McCann, Condon and Koch all rose in the rankings this year. McCann moved up 110 spots and more than doubled his sales total. Condon came in 75 spots ahead of last year’s rank and also nearly doubled sales.
All five Palm Beach agents ranked in the top 13 among South Florida professionals, and Angle and McCann were the top two agents state-wide. Boca Raton agent David W. Roberts of Royal Palm Properties was third in the state with about $193.6 million in sales.
Other Palm Beach County brokers include: Delray Beach agents Candace Friis of The Corcoran Group ($76.1 million) and Pascal Liguori of Premier Estate Properties ($67.5 million), Wellington agent Carol Sollak of Engel & VoIkers ($73.7 million) and Boca Raton agent Scot Karp, also of Premier Estate Properties ($61.2 million).
Broker Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates in Palm Beach has said he doesn’t participate in the survey or similar projects.
Agents and brokers furnish Real Trends with data about their transactions and pay a $35 fee to be considered, according to RealTrends’ website. Companies are solicited nationwide to participate but also can request an application.
Sales data must be verified by an independent source and is reviewed by Real Trends staff, according to the company.
The final list is part of a project called “The Thousand,” which includes three other Top 250 lists recognizing individual agents and sales teams based on different criteria. No Palm Beach agents appeared on the other lists.
All of the lists can be viewed at RealTrends.
